I am really excited about this picture. I sat perched on the top corner of the new multi-storey (award winning no less!) car park in Duke Street Norwich and sketched the street scene below me. It was a quite Saturday morning about 9.30 am. I then took a couple of record shots with the iphone for more detailed reference ( if you have ever used the 3Gs Phone camera for a record shot you will be aware of the irony in this statement). Back at home I painted the whole canvass yellow and started to block in the buildings with bold areas of single colour. The painting gradually evolved and I have to thank Gary Martin for his guidance and constructive criticism. The reflections of light from the shop windows into the street were stunning and I hope I have captured them to turn this picture from an ordinary street scene into something quite special.
